THE EXPERIMENTAL FORM IN THE ERA OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY

Abstract  

The architectural theory follows challenges brought about  by the development of digital technologies and the information revolution. It is possible to find new pursuit of experimental architectural forms in visions of virtual architecture in which four basic trends can be distinguished: form as the informed matter in the era of the personal computer, form as the digital code in the era of the electronic ecosystem, form as quantum of the energy in the era of the artificial intelligence and form as the expression of the relativity and discontinuity of the space-time in the era self-consciousness of computers. The digital form is an expression of the imagination of the creator or of the self-consciousness of the form. It is a transgenic form, constantly dependent on modifications in the cyber-space. Its relations with an environment are fuzzy, the form can traverse into the own context and inversely - the context can become the form
