MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING DESIGN

Aims:

  • the programme of the course refers to the problems of shaping  the multi-family housing according to the cultural heritage of the place and accommodation of the present housing - needs.

  • the range of the design: the urban-architectural study of residential area and architectural design of the multi-family house  

Outlines of lectures:

  • The housing architecture of the future - review of the Utopian visions

  • The idea of habitat - the review of Entopian solutions from the Antiquity to the present time in the European culture

  • Attractiveness of the housing - environment – buildings’ types, the social infrastructure of the habitat

  • The flat and man’s needs - standards of flats, zoning and spatial patterns of the flats, spatial arrangement of the apartments

  • Types of structures of the housing buildings, the technical infrastructure and the safeness of the buildings’ structure

  • The form of the housing architecture and architectural styles (the secession, the modernism, post-modernism and beyond-modernism)

  • International exhibitions of the housing architecture (Amsterdam, Weissenhof, Berlin, Borneo-Sporenburg, Freiburg
