SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSING DESIGN

Aims:

  • the programme of the course refers to the problems of shaping  the pattern of single-family house, composed in harmonious way into historic context, referring to the existing spatial order and cultural heritage of the place

  • the range of the design: the urban-architectural study and architectural design of the single-family house.  

Outlines of lectures:

  • The place and space - the topological and geometrical order

  • Rules and patterns of design of single-family housing complexes  – Spatial types of single-family houses

  • The house and its surroundings - the edge between the open and closed space

  • The house of dreams – designing of the architectural interiors of the house, functional patterns of the spatial organization

  • The  structure of the single-family house, roof framing, buildings’ materials, the technical infrastructure

  • The house and the expression of the form - the canon of the single-family houses – from the secession to modernism

  • The house and the expression of the form (architectural styles) - the canon of the single-family houses – from the post– to beyond-modernism
