FUTURISTIC VISIONS OF HOUSING ENVIRONMENT

Ada Kwiatkowska

Abstract

The present study deals with the futuristic visions of shaping the housing environment. An attempt has been made at pointing out trends in modern thinking about future development and forms of habitat and housing complexes, based on spatial visions. There were presented at the international conference and architectural exhibition Helsinki-Tampere Visions – New Scenarios of Living organized by the Finnish Association of Architects, Helsinki 1993. Based on the visions put forwards, the following futuristic models of shaping the housing environment were distinguished: global strategies, transit corridors and city edges as a potential for development of housing structures, city as a giant scene, oases and archipelagos, ecological residential structures, deconstructive and anti-constructive housing structures, apartment block as an urban module, puzzles – graphic compositions, paradoxes and provocations.
