ARCHITECTURAL METAMORPHOSES OR HOW TO ORDER THE INFORMATION EMPTINESS?

Ada Kwiatkowska

Abstract

The emptiness is the primary state of each act of architectural creation, especially in digital abstract space. The emptiness forces an architect to search for indispensable information or methods of their getting to create a new existence which gives the emptiness a form. The possible way of proceeding is using a certain design strategy, based on algorithms to imagine a new existence, about which a creator has not enough information. The important question of know-how to create a new form in digital space is to decide the level of uniqueness and causality in creation process. The metamorphic transformation is a process of distinguishing of the relict part of form, which is transferred to the new structure with no change, and of the metamorphic part, which can be transformed into structure in new form (e.g. cell-pattern). The relict part determines the specific semantic-formal unity of each phases of the process of the transformation.
