ARCHITECTURE AS THE ART OF CONTROVERSY WITH A PLACE

Abstract

The architectural form is always engaged in the discourse with its context. In the communicative model, dialogue between the architectural form and a place is defined on the level of the message, the meaning of which cannot be separated from the architect's intention and the user's way of interpretation. This discourse is influenced by the architectural language and it refers to the chosen strategy of dispute. Concepts of architecture as the art of the controversy with a place are expressed by different strategies of discourse - from dialogue to provocation. The architecture as the art of controversy is presented in relation to the interpretative nonequivalence of the chosen examples of architectural forms.
