SIMULATION GAMES WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL FORMS

Ada Kwiatkowska

Abstract

The idea of architectural form is influenced by the philosophical concepts of human being's body. Development of digital technologies broke the barriers between the body and machine, extending the sensory and mental abilities of a human being, announcing the concept of a man as designed being. This concept has an impact on the idea of architectural forms in digital age. The artists and architects show different ways of possible explorations of the space-time and re-definitions of form. The possible directions of evolution of architectural forms can be described as follows: formation, information and transformation. Formation means the creation of architectural forms as the spatial extensions of the sensual and kinetic skills of the body. inFormation is the creation of forms as the digital peripheries' extensions of the human body. transFormation means the creation of form as the mutable body-extensions, coding experiments and structural simulation in the topological space.
